sale set By Vern Holm, Resources Conservationist, YamhUl SWCD It's time to start getting your orders in for the Yam- bill Soil and Water Conservation District's annual Native iant Sale. Due to the huge selection and high quality of the seed- lings and bare-root stock, the Native Plant Sale has become very popular with gardeners, farmers and rural landowners alike. Tim Stieber, District Manager at the Yamhill SWCD, opines that this year's sale will be even bigger than years past. "Last year we sold over 60,000 seedlings and small THURSDAY~ JAN. 9, 2003 -- THE DAYTON TRIBUNE, DAYTON~ OR 97114 -- PAGE 3 bare root plants. Our selection comes from seed stock that is appropriate for this growing region, and this ensures optimum success for survivability." According to Stun Christensen, Chairman of the dis- trict, the Native Plant Sale has five objectives: Supply a wide selection of native plants for conserva- tion projects in the community; Encourage homeowners to consider native (non-invasive) plant species in their landscape; Provide education on tree planting, conservation, planning and other related topics to landowners; Service back then just seemed a little more personal. That kind of service isn't gone it's just hard to come by in today's world of corporate mergers and profit margins. Friendly service used to be a way of life. at MacF & Son, it still is.
