Hopewell SDA Church
Elder Dallas Dull was the speaker at church service
Jan. 9. Special music was given by Ted Jennings with
his saxophone. Offering was for Child Evangelism.
Sabbath School highlights: Geraldine Stephens Supt.
Harry Christianson told of Sabbath School Investment
projects and blessings. Barry and Jason Oakes gave the
special music. The needs of mission field in India was
told by Ted Jennings.
" Coming: Tuesday, 7:15 pm, Pathfinders meeting in
uniform. Prayer meeting at 7:30 Tuesday. The James
C. Dobson Ph.D., Christian authority on the Family
Series of films and talks began Jan. 12 at 7 pm in the
Sanctuary of the McMinnville SDA Church. The series
will run each Tuesday night for seven weeks. It is
sponsored by the Home and School Assn. All welcome.

~ord has been received of the death of Mrs. Homer
Syme in College Place, Wn. on Jan. 6. She was buried
Jan. 10, 11 am from the Colonial Mortuary in Walla
Walla. She had been ill for some time. The Syme family
lived near Hopewell for a number of years before
moving to College Place, Wn.
Volunteers needed
as reading tutors
If you enjoy reading and like working with people,
you may be a person ready to volunteer to serve as a
tutor in the basic skills Language Arts program at
Dayton High School.
Community and student volunteers are being sought
to work one-on-one with students to help improve
writing, reading, and speaking skills of one student in
our class by assisting in the study of assignments
arranged by the teacher. Tutors will not be running
errands, typing papers, or planning lessons. Special
training will be provided the volunteers on Monday,
January 25, 1982.

The Past Noble Grands Club of Naomi Rebekah
Lodge met Monday evening at the home of Mrs. Lillian
Lyman. There were five members present to enjoy the
evening. 111 and absent members were remembered.
Opal Palmer won the door prize. The minutes of the last
meeting were read. The February meeting will be held
at the home of Judy Clements. Refreshments were
served at the close of the meeting.

Mrs. Clancy Crick and daughter Aime of Salem were
Wednesday afternoon guests of her aunt, Mrs. Dorothy
Ford.
Mrs. Annie Millam received word from her daughter,
Dr. Melissa Stanley, Wednesday. Dr. Stanley had just
returned to the States from a holiday vacation in Costa
Rica, Central America. She reported beautiful, warm
weather, a bit humid for climbing. She had visited an
Audubon Preserve deep in the interior; the biggest
Agricultural Tropical Experiment Station in the world;
had hiked in virgin jungle; had seen 54 different species
of birds and had traveled by train and bus and joined a
tour of churches and schools. She had a wonderful

meeting when more members would be present.
Wilma Liebenow won the door prize. The February
meeting will be at the home of Evelyn Lenderink and
the subject for the lesson will be presidents and for roll

enjoyed a pleasant afternoon.
