At 3 pln Saturday, Eld- er Robert Letcher of Newberg gave the first lesson of the Class on Lay Witnessing, which will be given once each month for several months. Saturday, February 21, 9:30 am, a Bi-Centennial Sabbath School program will be given, with the emphasis on the history of the Hopewell SDA Church as well as other history of the Hopewell area. The men and women of the Hopewell Community Church are continuing their work each Wed- nesday on repairing and finishing the Sunday School classrooms in the basement, with potluck din- ner served by the Ladies Aid. The roof gutters of the Church were repaired on Saturday and Thursday from a' 10-day visit with her son, Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Reed and family of Cheyenne, Wyoming, while his son James who is with the U. S. Airforce was home with his wife and little son Joshua James. James and family will be stationed in Italy for three years leaving the last of January. Mrs. Reed was also a guest of Mr. and Mrs. W. D. , Schutz of Laramie, Wyoming, be- fore returning hbme by air. Alma Morse of San Rafael, California and former resident of Salem died in a hospital there, and funeral services were held on Monday in Salem. She was a sister of the late Gust Janzen of H0pewell, and Mrs. Margaret Janzen, Mr. and Mrs. Robert' Janzen and Mr. and Mrs. George Kirkwood of Hfllsboro, and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Kotka of Hills- boro attended the funeral.
