Dick Williamson is home on
leave at the home of h~s mother,
Mrs. Blanche Williamson. He is
in the process of bein~g trans-
ferred to the U.S.S. Bralne whose
home port is Portland. When he
returnd in Nov. from his second
West Pas Tour he was informed
that his ship, the USS Frank
Knox, was to be decommissioned
in San Diego.
Saturday at 9:45 a.m. Pastor
Paul Knottingham's Volkswagen
caught fire on the highway. The
car was being driven by his ne-
phew, Dave K-nottingham and
suffered a considerable damage l
on the engine.
Saturday evening the Lafayette
Fire Dept. sold the Army sg-ton
.4x4 fire truck which had been
replaced by a Seagraves fire
truck. Purchaser was Wfonte;
Gersman of Lake Grove.
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Vattght and
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Will~ams cele-
brated their folks, Mr. and Mrs.
Dean Rector's 43rd wedding an-
niversary and Williams' 45th
birthday Sunday, Jan. 31. The
Rectors' anniversary is Feb. 1.
Friday night former neighbors
of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Clark
gave them a housewarming with
a money tree to be used to buy a
tree or shrubs for their yard. Pre-

stepsister, Mr. and Mrs. Les

,Monday Orval Coffey was vis-

day afternoon his cousin, Mrs.
Wilbur Mead phoned from Wtl-
sonville to tell him her niece and
her family are moving to Wilson-
ville from Tacoma, Wash.
Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Bonneville
gan stayed here and spent Christ-
mas with their daughter, Mr. and
Mrs. Dan Herron and family and
two granddaughters also spent
Christmas here, Miss Audrey and
Miss Paula Daniels. While she
was in Texas, Mrs, Flanagan and
her brother took in several an-
tique auctions and antique shows
and ,garage sales. At one garage l
sale her brother was lucky en-
ou,gh to find a valuable pastel
painting. She purchased a beau-
iful antique clock and flint gob-
lets to go with her collection and
plates and a cut glass bowl and
brought them home. Her brother
gave her a combination desk and
china cabinet, antique rocker
and a t~ble with fish head legs to
be shipped later. She went to
Hollis, Okla and visited Mr.
Flanagan's three "sisters and all
the nieces and nephews and re-
turned home Jan. 21.

Mrs. Charles Flanagan left
here Dec. 14 to San Francisco,
Calif and then to Amarillo,
Texas and spent the holidays with
her brother, Mr. and Mrs, C. A.
Hector. Christmas eve, Mrs. Flan-
agan's daughter, Mr. and Mrs.
Fred .Mills and sons David and
Lawrence of Lake Jackson came,
unaware that her mother was
there. It was such a surprise she
almost fainted. All the other rel-
atives phoned from all over Tex-
as and told her to stay there and
they would come see her. Christ-
mas eve she received calls from
all over Texas and 10 from Ore-
gon -- 26 in all. Charles Flana-
corned its newest member at the
regular session Monday evening,
Feb. 3. Mrs. Norma Wise was
sworn in by the city recorder on
Jan 15 to begin her four-year
term.
A request from Ray Lynch con-
cerning sewer hookup on a house
at 5th St was discussed. Mayor
Bob 'Vaught also informed the
council members of the insurance
policies on city equipment and
employes that was to be renewed.
Leonard Johnson of Carlton
and Duane Ackerma~ of McMinn-
ville asked for information on
subclivision regulations inside the
city limits and cost policies of
sewer and water hookups. The
Council will study the proposal
and provide further information
at the March meeting.
A report on conditions of the
city-owned watershed land was
heard. It was decided to buy 1,000
James Bosshardt was elected as
President of the Cocncil to pre-
side in the Mayor's ~bsence.
Shirley Vaught was named to
the Planning Commission to re-
place retiring member Bosshardt.

burn reported on work being
done in the city and Orval Coffey
reported on the visit to the wat-
ershed.

no city equipment will be rented
to be used outside the city limits.
