Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wood Gli- den Sr. of Salem celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary at an open house Sunday in the home of their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. (Patsy) Thomas Roth. Frank Wood Gladden and Lorane Mae "'~}~ Merrill were married March 2 in Reno, Nevada. They lived in Northern California until 1942 when they moved to the Yarnhill- Carlton area. They moved to Sa- lem in 1959. Mr. Gladden has been a plastering contractor for the last 30 years. Mr. Gladden's three sisters from Grants Pass were present: (Loraine) Mrs. Connie Nustrom, (Hazel) Mrs. Robert Shaw and (Ruth) Mrs. L. E. Gurgel. Also his two brothers, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Gladden of Gaston and Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Gladden from Dayton. The cou- ple have seven children. In ad- dition to Mrs. Roth there are (Lillian) Mrs. Emmett Thompson, Frank Jr Wayne, Larry, Dale and Marvin Gladden, of Salem. There are 17 grandchildren. Near- ly 125 relatives and friends gath- ered. Sunday guests were Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Rupp of McMinn- ville and Mr. and Mrs. Edd. Muff- enberg of Molalla. Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Johnson's brother-in-law, Mr. Floyd Owens of Carlton has returned home from the hospital. Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Owens called on Mr. and Mrs. Johnson. Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Ad- ams went to the Trailer Llfe Show at the Coliseum in Port- land. Mrs. Adams wants to thank everyone for the donations and support for the Rummage Sale. They were able to raise over $100 for SOS. Mrs. Ina Ames was visited Thursday by her son, Mr. and Mrs. Oakes Ames and family from Portland. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Christopher- son had as Sunday dinner guests, Mr. and Mrs. E, Miller of Dallas. 'Mrs. Louise Churchley called on her niece, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard McCallem in St. Johns on Friday. Dale Hodgins phoned his folks, Mr. and Mrs. Orville Hodgins from Hunters Field in Georgia. . Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Bonneville returned Thursday from the John Day Dam where Mr. Bonneville has been working for two weeks. Mr.' and Mrs. Wayne Black- burn and family and accompan- ied by Miss Daneice Cottam from Rexburg, Idaho, attended the wedding Friday of Miss Karen Blanchard and Mr. Sid Garner. Miss Cottam was a bridesmaid. Sunday they all gathered at the home of Mrs. Clara Cottam to see Daneice return to Rex College in Idaho. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Carter were visited by their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Nightengale and Nancy from Salem Sunday after- noon. Rev. and Mrs. Dow and Mrs. Kate MeClain of Dayton, Mrs. Alva O'Dell of ~VlcMinnville and Mrs. Julia Keller all called. Mr. and Mrs. Percy Miller were visited Wednesday by their nephew, Mr. Dennis Tompkins, of Grand Island and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Carter. Mr. and Mrs. E. Myrle Harris drove to the trailer show on Sat- urday and called on Mr. and Mrs. Orval Marks in Portland. Mr. and Mr~ Vernon Hoffman drove to Campbell, Calif for the funeral of his father, Mr. Charles T. Hoffman. While on the way to the funeral, his brother, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Hoffman from Yre- ka, Calif were in an accident and taken to a Colusa hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Hoffman visited them after the funeral and returned home Thursday. Over the weekend, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Bryan of Salem called on her mother, Mrs. Myrtle Blough and Mr. and Mrs. Estel Johnson. They went to Woodburn Sunday for dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. G. Miles. Mr. and Mrs. Dan Gibbon ~trove to Redmond on Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Donald MacGill- vary were visited by her folks, Mr. and Mrs. Orin Dain Of Scio over the weekend. Saturday Mr. and IMrs. Will Christersen of Dayton and Mr. and Mrs. George Crister of Canby called. Saturday Mr. and Mrs. Vance Mullins had as supper guests from Hlllsboro, Mr. and Mrs. Ber- nard Bakken. Sunday her broth- er, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Heritage stopped in from McMinnville. ~Mrs. Agnes Merrill and Merlin were visited Sunday by Mrs. Lena ~Newhouse from Dayton. Mrs. Merrill's sister, Mrs. Christine Rucker, phoned from Portland she is going to Boise, Idaho, for a few days stopover on her way home to Chadron, Nebraska. Fri- day Mrs. Merrill and Merlin called on Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Coffey and Orval to play Blitz. Saturday Mrs. Lavina Turner and Mr. and Mrs. George Ander-! son called on Mr. and Mrs. John Pitman. Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Don Hill were hosts to their whole fam- ily. Their daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Don Dripps, Kathy and Johny of Sherwood, Miss Kathy Hill from Laure and Marlene Davis. The Girl Scouts were Miss IAnda Mc- Cracken and Miss MicheU Phyne. The two girls also joined the group that went on to Albany for the International Girl Scout Fes- tival. Mrs. Helen Seoggan of Grand Island and Mrs. Ethel Scoggan spent the weekend in Washil~- ton. They drove to Seattle and Bremerton and called on friends and relatives and drove all around the peninsula. T h e y watched all the people lined up on the ,bank at Kelso, smelt fish- ing, and came on home. Mrs. Everett Wlse's mother-in- law, Mrs. Jens Pederson of Lin- coin City passed away Monday morning. The funeral will be Thursday, March 5 at 2:00 in Browns Funeral Home in New- berg. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Weide- witsch watched their granddaugh- ter, Miss Bonnie Long of Cornel- ius wi~h the Band in the Gay Nineties Parade in Forest Grove on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Ammons spent the weekend in Idanha with their grandchildrtn while Mr. and Mrs. Farris Benton attended a Logging Convention in Eu)gene. They spent two days there and then visited their son, Mr. and Mrs. William Winters and three children in Villa Park, Cali They stayed there until Mr. John Winters had established a vege- table garden and drove to Neva- da. They spent a day in Las Ve- gas and a day in Reno and came home through Klamath Falls and were very happy when they saw the Wlilamette VaKey. While on the trip they stayed in their camper or state parks or motels. The best park was Modoc Indlan Park in Calif. They also visited the Joshua Tree National Monu- ment. April 10th with the Oddfellow eelebratir~g their ~t00th year will be Friendship Rebekahs Lodge No. 12 celebrating 90 years. Mrs. Peggy Wilson and Mr. John Norris were married Feb. 14, in McMbmviUe at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Httber by Judge Carl Thomas. They went to San Francisco for their hon- eymoon. They have a new dou- ble wide mobile home on 7th Ex- tension. Mrs. Norris has five chil- dren and ~Ylr. Norris has two. Monday their sister, Mr. and Mrs. Pat Daly stopped by from Eatonville, Wash. Mr. and Mrs. Hollis Skeels called on her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Park in Portland. Mrs. Dan Herron and her mother, Mrs. C. A. Flanagan drove to Salem Satuday and went to din- ner and shopping. Mr. and Mrs. John Winters en- joyed a three week trip to Cali- fornia and Nevada. While they were gone, their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Mike Untoff looked aft- er their place. They left here and drove to Yosemite Park, Cal.
