WINNING SPORTS TEAM
Anita Church, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Merle Church, Rt. 1,
Dayton, is among members of
Linfield College women's inter-
collegiate sports teams which
have taken high honors in wom-
en's competition in the state re-
cently.
Miss Church is a senior math-
business administration major at
the college, and a member of the
women's bowling team.

ary in Hang Kong and working
as a supervising nurse in "The
Haven of Hope," the TB hospital
there, was guest speaker at the
Hopewell and Unionvale Evangel-
ical Churches for the morning
services on Sunday, March 4.
The Sunday evening service for
the Hopewell and Unionvale Evan-
gelical Churches was held at
Hopewell Church, with Rev. GaD.
Millen of Jennings Lodge, Super-
intendent of the NW Conference
of the Evangelical Churches of
North America, as guest speaker.
During the service he dedicated
the new communion table, in
memory of Mrs. Jessie Beaty, and
the new pulpit, in memory of Da-
vid Olke, Matthew Parvin, Oscar
Taskinen, John Ojua and Elmer
Polvi.
N. O. Pearse was elected dele-
gate to annual Conference at Jen-
nings Lodge in June, and John
Kotka was elected alternate dele-
gate.
The Hopewell Missionary So-
ciety will hold its March meet-
ing at the home of Mrs. Nels Si-
pola, on Tuesday, March 13 at
7:30 p.m with Mrs. N. O. Pearse
as lesson leader. All ladies of
the community are invited to at-
tend.
Guests of Mrs. Esther Polvi this
past week were Mrs. George Ken-
gas, Mrs. Carl Pajala, Mrs. Oscar
Taskinen, Mrs. May Polvi on Fri-
day to celebrate Mrs. Polvi's
birthday. On Saturday, Mr. and
Mrs. Kirby Johnson of Salem, and
Mrs. Irene Steirne and Mrs. Hel-
en Nurmi of Longview, Wash
and Mrs. May Polvi were guests.
Miss Charlotte Filer accompa-
nied Mrs. Sherie Dulaney of Mc-
Minnville to the play, "Anne of
the Thousand Days" at Linfield
College Friday night.
Mr. and Mrs. Fenton Galer and
sons and Miss Kathy Galer and
friend from Newberg were Sun-
day dinner guests at the home of
his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd
Galer, Sunday. They celebrated
the birthdays of Fenton and Ka-
thy Galer. Fenton Galer attend-
ed the car show in Portland in
the afternoon.
Mr. and Mrs. Lambert Miller
and M. A. Palmer visited at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Lar-
son Sunday.
Saturday Mr. and Mrs. Bud Cal-
lahan visited his mother at the
Cascade Nursing home in Leb-
anon. They spent the afternoon
with a brother, Mr. and Mrs. John
Callahan, also at Lebanon. Sun-
day dinner guests at the Bud Cal-
laban home were their daughter,
Mr. and Mrs. John Terry and
daughter, Susie, from Portland
and their son, Mr. and Mrs. John
Callahan and two sons, from Day-
ton, and Mrs. Mike Swearengin,
also from Dayton. Friday evening
callers were Mr. and Mrs. Floyd
Matthews from Sheridan.
Michelle Abdill from Roseburg
spent a' few days with her grand-
mother, Mrs. Vivian Abdill, re-
cently. Her great grandson, Tom-
my Jensen from Hopewell, spent

Rep. Bunn To Speak
To Grange March 14
The McMinnville Grange met
Wednesday, Feb. 28, at Grange
Hall. A potluck dinner was served
to 46 members and friends. 1st
and 2nd degree obligations were
conferred to Ida McCafferty and
Alma Asher.
The CWA met with Anna Du-
erst, co-hostess Laura Sauter, Fri-
day, March 2nd with. 20 members
and two visitors present. Sham-
rocks were made for patients at
Carousel Rest Home. CWA will
meet Friday April 6th at Grange
Hall, 10:30 a.m. Bring sack lunch.
Coffee and refreshments will be
served by Loula Evans and Bet-
ty Neigh, hostesses. CWA Coun-
ty Conference will meet Monday,
March 19 at McMinnville Grange
Hall, 10:30 a.m.
Pinochle will be played Friday,
March 16 at Grange Hall.
McMinnville Grange will meet
March 14th, 8 p.m. at Grange
Hall. Guest speaker will be State
Legislator Stan Bunn.
