(Continued from Last Week)
The Intervale Club was held
Thursday, Feb 25 at the home of
Lucile Clark. There were 13 .mem-
bers present and one guest, Pat
Foster. Nieta Terry, who is a
charter member was sent a card
signed by all the members. They
also sent a card to Stewart
French. After a dessert of Jello
and cookies Mrs. Clark was pre-
sented with a complete set of
towels as a housewarming gift.
The next meeting will be at the
home of Ava Wood in Carlton on
March 25. Friday afternoon Mr.
and Mrs. Lester Clark called on
Mrs. Luella Hembree and Donna
Mae Hembree in McMinnville
who returned from the hospital

supper guests were their daugh-
ter and cousin, Betty Shawahn
and Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Delaney
from Carlton.

called on Mrs. Vern Prosser, Don-

dical Center. Weekend visitors
were Mrs. Rector's sister, Mr. and
Mrs. Leroy Morris and daughter
Becky. Sunday they drove in to
McMinnville and got Mr~ L. W.
Snodgrass. They had dinner and
attended the shower for Suzanne
Farmer at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Ernie Thair.
Jan. 4, Mr. and Mrs A. B. Cof-
fey left in their trailer and spent

Jan. 23 and 24 they were visited
by Mr. and Mrs Marvin Giesman
and two daughters, Lisa and Son-
ya from St. ~Louis, Missouri. He
works for American Airlines and
at Los Angeles International Air-
port. One of the officials took
them on a tour of the 747. He
told them they cost $22 million
to build. They saw the cockpit
with all the dials and buttons
cear across and up on the ceiling.
The main cabin is a block long,
red carpet and real luxurious.

They watched the planes take off
and went out to a Chinese dinner.
Before they left California they
visited Mr. C0ffey's niece, Mr.
and Mrs. Joe Jackson and two
children in Redondo Beach. They
left for home Feb. 24 up the in-
land route and saw some of the
earthquake damage and devasta-
tion and arrived home the 1st of
March.
Mr. and Mrs. Everett Wise and
Neff were visited over the week-
end by Mr. and Mrs. Tom Fish-
er and daughter Jolene from Sa-
co, Montana. That is where Nell
stayed last Summer. Saturday
evening Nell went with Mr. My-
zak and Richard Myzak to the
wrestling matches in Portland. it
was the first time Nell had ever
seen them live.

Correction: Due to a mechani-
cal failure the following was left
out of the story on Lafayette res-
idents in the hospital: "Mrs. Ter-
ry returned home Saturday, Mr.
and Mrs. Chuck Province brought
her home, Mrs. Prosser is still in
the hospital, Mrs. Trevor had sur-
gery on her leg."
Mrs. J. E. Niccolls was taken
to McMinnville hospital Thursday
for major surgery.
Tuesday evening around 8:00,
Henry Derendorf was stricken
with an attack and taken to a
McMinnville hospital.
Sunday, March 7, a baby show-
er was held for Suzanne (John-
son) Farmer at the home of Sue
Thair. Sophie Hill and Sandy
Lewis were co-hostesses. Those
attending were: JoAnne Miles
and Christine of W oodburn. Don-
neen Tappley of Molalla, Judy
Belt of Yamhill, Nancy Ehlers,
Velede, Neta and Tammie Bryan
from Salem, Katherine Cabe and!
Bernice Snodgrass of McMinn-
ville, Donna Howard of Eugene
and Leva Quayle came from the
hospital in Forest Grove to at-
tend. Those from Lafayette were
Helen and Elva Williamson, Tot
Thair, Peggy Province, Shirlene
and Gelene Vaught, Edna Rectorl
Bernice Johnson, Margaret Ray-
mond and Myrtle Blough.
Dainty party cakes topped with
pink and blue booties were served
with coffee, tea or punch. Tiny
diaper and nut cups filled with
nuts and candy completed the
party tray.
Kenneth Schuhardt left Lafay-
ette last week to move to East-
ern Oregon. The new Barber who
took over Tuesday morning is
James E. Bennett from Aumsville
where he also raisesArabian
horses. ]
Sunday Mrs. Marvin R u t h
drove Mrs. John Driskell into
Portland to see John in the Vet-
erans hospital. Tuesday she re-
ceived a phone call to come and
get him and he will be home for
l awhile returning later. Tuesday
afternoon Mrs. Ruth called on
Mrs. Harriet Brown in the Phy-
sicians Medical Center and Mrs.
Margaret Bal]ard in her home in
McMinnville. Thursday dinner
guests were Mr. and Mrs. John
Mahood from Amity before they

in California.
Mr. and Mrs. Perle Wright
spent a week in Portland from
Monday to Friday taking care of
their grandchildren #Asa and Tra-
cy Wright while their folks, Mr.
and Mrs. Glenn Wright went to
Seattle, Wash.
Sunday, March 7, Mr. and Mrs.
!Lloyd McElroy had open house
for their new tavern in Dayton.
:They counted 71 at 3:00 and they
were just starting to come in.
They had wall to wall people.
Mrs. Merrill and Mrs. Everett
Wise celebrated her birthday
Tuesday at the ~Cings Table in
Salem. Her birthday was Mar. 15.
Mrs. Vern Prosser returned
home from the hospital Monday
afternoon feeling fairly good but
still quite weak.
It was reported Mrs. Everett
Pruitt returned home from the
hospital Sunday.
The Lafayette Extension Unit
met Thursday, March 11, at the
home of Mar|lynn Adams with 16
members and guest, Patsy Jones,
present. Co-hostesses were Diane
Schmauder and Margaret Harris.
The lesson, "The Generation Gap"
was given by Diane Breaux and
Tot Thair. The bake sale took in
30. The Genies will donate $3
more and the Extension will do-
nate the rest to make it an even
$50. The next ,meeting will be
April 8 at the home of Edith
Sohrweid and the lesson will be
"Safety in Foods."
Norman and Bessie Hurter left
Dec. 17 to spend Christmas in
Bakersfield, Calif. From Dec. 26
to Feb. 21 they spent in Yuma,
Ariz. After they left there they
followed up the Colorado River,
visited Parker Dam, tIavasu City
and Needles, Calif. They returned
to Bakersfield and spent six days
!with his mother, Mrs. George
Hurter. They left the 2nd of
March and had good roads all the
way home with patches of snow
here and there. Norman Hueter
retired Nov. 1 and they made
their home in Lafayette at 957
7th St. Extension.
Mr. and Mrs. John Albertson
were Sunday dinner guests at the
home of her sister, Mr. and Mrs.
Edwin Thompson in Portland to
celebrate Mrs. A]bertson's birth-
day. Her other sister, Mr. and

Salem area. 3ohnsons received
word the first of last week their
grandson, Larry Pritchett w~
rushed to the hospital in Oak-
land, Calif with an acute appen-
dicitis attack.

nephew, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Sorlck
of Rufus returned to Stay With
her for awhile and took her up
to see John in the hospital.
