• Seniors honored on
birthdays at dinner
by Freida Hedgecock
Hi! Seniors all, sorry I have not had an article in
paper for sometime, but it seems as though so many
things have happened this winter, but want to tell you
the large crowd April 16 was beautiful and I was really
pleased and know that you were too. Our attendance
had fallen off last fall and winter some, but is picking
up again. We want to keep our site open and going, as
many people depend on a good home cooked meal twice
a week. Also Lafayette serves on Mondays and
Wednesdays noon. So please come join us in fun and
fellowship.
We honored birthdays Friday, April 16 and music
was so entertaining that most people stayed until they
were through playing. This is important as they give of
their time and talent, for us, so we should not leave
unless it is necessary.
I~ . ~ Was nice to see faces from McMinnville (former
"" IJaytonians) that have not been present for awhile.
:s The musicians present were Leonard Maaks, Slim
a Schultz and his wife, Norm McGrew and Joey Mc-
n Kinsey of McMinnville. Joey is related to the Freshour
and is very talented young man, and played the banjo,
Y mandolin and violin, with the group -- also he has
ts
taken first place, I believe, in a national contest and was
e on TV in "Faces and Places" so he kept everyone
;s spellbound with his five renditions of many instru-
Y ments. So thank you Joey and we hope you come play
for us again soon with the other musicians whom we
owe many thanks for their entertainment.
Those having birthdays for April were Mac Osman,
Freida Hedgecock, Emma Paris, Charlie Potter, Ber-
nice Johnson, Leonard Maaks and Irene Jacobson.
Many more "Happy" Birthdays and to all those in
recent months. Did not get your name in the paper, but
I know you had a pleasant birthday.
If anyone wishes to go to the "Keep Well" Clinic,
please call the health center, as the nurse did not think
there would be enough people to make it worth while
here at the meal center, but you can make an appoint-
ment with the health center.
Mr. Wahls will be at the meal site this Friday to tell
us about the apartments he is putting in on Mill St. in
Dayton, so anyone interested may talk with him there.
Menu for Friday, April 23rd will be: Roast turkey.
~ dressing w/gravy, cranberry sauce, tossed salad, bis-
cuits and peach cobbler, juice, coffee or tea and milk.

Esther Circle plans
Women's Buffet
Dear Pastor Skip,
What do you see as the single most important aspect
in a Christian's life to produce spiritual growth?
To grow spiritually into conformity with the image of
Jesus Christ, there are many things that must come
together. You cannot talk about growth without men-
tioning active church involvement. You cannot talk
about growth without mentioning Christian fellowship.
There are many aspects that must come together if a
Christian truly desires to grow as God has planned.
There is one factor that really undergirds all the rest. It
is foundational and when present will help lead the
Christian into the other areas needed for spiritual
growth.
That factor is daily, consistent fellowship between
the individual believer and God. If we desire to be like
Christ (Romans 8:29) then we must spend time
regularly alone with God to discover what He is like and
what His will for our lives is. It has been said that
Christianity is not a religion but a relationship with
Jesus Christ. Friend we cannot built relationships if we
do not spend time with. that person.
What I mean by fellowship with God is this. We need
to spend time reading God's Word, and thinking about
God's Word. As we do this we need to ask God what He
wants to teach us from the passage we are studying.
Along with interacting with His Word we also need to
interact with God personally in prayer. That is talking
to God with purpose. Bringing to Him our problems,
our desires, our needs, and our hopes.
We must make this time of personal fellowship with
God a priority in our lives. If we do not know God we
cannot grow spiritually as He desires. If we spent time
getting to know God He will cause us to grow and show
to us all the other things that we need to further
develop ()or spiritual growth (Ps. 46:10).
