Hopewel! SDA Church Elder Dalles Dull gave the May 1st sermon during church hour. Elder Dull, a mountain climber of ex- perience, spoke on "God of the Mountains." A vocal duet was given by Ted Jennings and Dalles Dull. Sabbath School highlights: Geraldine Stephens Supt. Vocal duet by Chuck and Janet Keightley. Mission Story given by Ted Jennings. The lesson study in classes was on subject of our personal life bringing glory to God. The Assoc. M.V. program May 1 at the McMinnville church featured the story told by the Peng Lot family, formerly of Cambodia. Peng acted as interpreter for Dr. Ron Fleck in 1979 when Dr. Fleck spent six weeks working in refugee camps. Now the Peng Lor family live in Salem. Members of the Hopewell Seventh-day Adventists will be joining world members in giving the annual Famine and Disaster Relief Offering May 8, to support S.A.W.S. (Seventh-Day Adventist World Services) ac- tivities. Last year nearly 25 million dollars was spent to assist in disasters and distress areas worldwide. The local Hopewell Dorcas is shipping more boxes of clothing to SAWS May 10-26. There is a critical need for children's clothing now at the warehouse in Wat- sonville, Ca. Good, clean used clothing is welcomed. Candidate for circuit court post visits here Chester Scott, 40, one of three candidates running for the Circuit Judge's position recently vacated by Kurt C. Rossman, was visiting in Dayton this week. Scott has been a single practicioner in Independence for 16 years. He is a graduate of the University of Oregon Law School. Scott makes his home in Monmouth, with his wife, Patsy Carol, and two sons, Justin, 10; and Christopher, 11. He says he is looking forward to serving as Circuit Judge and would bring to the office a wide variety of ....... experience, having been a farm laborer, logger and building contractor.
