Dayton Garden Club
Meeting Monday
The May meeting of the Dayton
Garden Club met ~t the lovely
new home ~f Mrs. Vern Garrett
Monday afternoon. A delicious
dessert was served before the
meeting.
The president, Mrs. Evelyn
Lenderink, opened the mee~ng.
Members saluted the flag and
sang A m e r i c a the Beautiful.
There were eight members pres-
ent.
The lesso~ Was on mums and
plant exchange. Mrs. Lena Filer
brought a bouquet of wild flow-
ers. There was much discussion
about dogs and cats running loose
and also about children picking
flowers in the yards around town.
Cards were sent to Mrs. Kath-
arine Oaler and Mrs. Walter
!Wagner.
Mrs. Lenderink read an article
on bachelor buttons. Mrs. Mar-
iam Kr~ke won the door prize.
The rest of the afternoon was
spent visiting. The next meeting
place will be announced at a lat-
er day.
Mother.Daughter
Banquet Held Here
About 50 mothers and daugh-
ters attended the Mother-Daugh-
ter banquet at the Evangelical
Church of North America Tues-
day evening.
Miss Annabelle Nelson gave the
invocation, a~d Mrs. Delbert Dow
the introductions. Mrs. Jane Arm-
strong thanked all those who
planned and carried out the event.
Carol Armstrong gave an in-
strumental number Bless This
House. She was accompanied by
her mother at the piano. Susan
Hess read a poem on "Home"
fo'Ilowed by Irma Webster read-
ing a poem "What Is a Real
Home." Mrs. Shirley Dit, tmer
sang a solo, "Love at Home."
Speaker for the ,evening was
Mrs. William Springer. Her sub-
