Services Held For
George Skreen
Graveside services were held
Wednesday in Willamette National
Cemetery, Portland, for George
Skreen, 72, of 116 Main St. Dayton.
He died Sunday at his home.
He was born and received his
" " education in Bowdon, N.D. He en-
listed in the Army in 1942 and was
.scharged in 1945. He moved to
w6
ayton shortly after and had lived
here since.
Survivors include wife, Stella;
son, Howard Puttman, daughter,
Linda Hampton, both of Dayton;
brother, Mathew Skreen, Colehar-
bor, N.D.; sisters, Agnes Glaser,
Dayton, Anna Fortner, Pontiac,
Mich., and Alma Glaser, Colehar-
bor; six grandchildren and five
great-grandchildren.
Scott's Mortuary, McMinnville,
was in charge of arrangements.
Manuel Morris
Dies May 8
Services for Manuel Morris, 77,
of Dayton were held Saturday, May
10 in the Hopewell Church, with
Pastor Charles Ludwig officiating.
Interment was in Hopewell Ceme-
tery. He died May 8 at the Mc-
Minnville hospital.
He was born Jan. 6, 1903 at
Raynham, Mass., the son of Man-
uel and Marion Morris. He was
married to Etta White Sept. 14,
1945 and had lived in Dayton since
1968.
In Raynham, Massachusetts, he
had worked for the Highway De-
partment. He was a member of the
Raynham Chapter of the Massa-
chusetts Goat Assn., a past mem-
ber of the Raynham Congregational
hurch, and t member of the
Hopewell Community Church.
Survivors include his wife, Etta
Aof Dayton; son, George Morris of
'--iddleboro, Mass.; step-son,
"--'Kenneth Smith of Dayton; step-
daughter, Mildred Osborne of
Brookton, Mass.; brothers, Joe
Morris, Frank Morris, Tony Mor-
ris, John Morris, all of Massa-
chusetts; sisters, Mamie Silva,
Ema Lema, Marion Deeosta, Rose
Perry, Flora Morris, all of Mas-
sachusetts; Eva Watland of Wash-
ington, Rita Madrios of California;
eight grandchildren and 12 great
grandchildren.
Macy and Son Funeral Directors
were in charge of arrangements.
Fairview
Charlotte Maker spent the week-
end with her daughter Naomi Top-
cock and children at Mossy Rock,
Wash.
The family of Mr. and Mrs. MilD
Morris honored them with a dinner
in Salem Sunday. Mrs. Morris is
recovering satisfactorily from sur-
gery. Her niece Judy Larson of
Rapid City, South Dakota returned
to her home last Tuesday, after
being with the MilD Morris family
for two months.
Carl Pajala is at home now re-
covering satisfactorily from sur-
gery.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Callander
attended a family gathering for the
Caltander and Reeves family at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. William
Callander of Amity.
Longtime Dayton
Resident Dies
Daniel D. Dixon, 82, of Rt. 1, Box
209, died May at his home.
He was born in Philomath and
moved to Dayton in 1908. He later
lived in Perrydale for 10 years, then
returned to Dayton. He was a
farmer and member of the Union-
vale Community Church.
Survivors include wife, Verna,
Unionvale; daughters, Vivian Moe,
McMinnville, Marie Fuller, Wil-
sonville, Lillian Stacke, Farmers
Branch, Texas, Debby Guthrie,
Sacramento, Calif., Valetta Smith,
Salem, and Edna Becker, Wapa-
koneta, Ohio; sons, Freeman,
Seattle, and Martin, Yuba, Calif.;
sister, Effie Wilson, Centralia,
Wash.; brother, Ezra, Mesa, Ariz.;
18 grandchildren and four great-
grandchildren.
Services were held at the Union-
vale Community Church Saturday
afternoon, at the Unionvale Com-
munity Church with Rev. Dennis
Stoltenburg, pastor of the church,
officiating.
Interment was in Hopewell
Cemetery. The family suggests
contributions to the Unionvale
Community Church. Scott's Mor-
tuary, McMinnville, was in charge
of arrangements.

a son, born May 4. Derek Joseph
weighed in at 7 lbs. 121/2 oz.

Dayton were visited by their two
sons on Mothers Day, Eugene and
his family from Hillsboro and Leroy
and his family from Oregon City.

Ramona Circle
The Ramona Circle WSWS of the
Pioneer Evangelical Church met at
the social room of the church last
Friday afternoon. There were eight
members present. Evelyn Lender-
ink was hostess and Buna Remme
co-hostess. They served refresh-
ments.
Mrs. Alva O'Dell gave the mis-
sionary emphasis followed by the
circle prayer. Mrs. Dorothy Myers
told about various missionaries
with whom the group is familiar.
The meeting closed with prayer.
