The Lafayette Friendly Club met Wednesday at the home of Bernice Johnson. There were 8 members present and three guests, Valeda Bryan of Salem, Jo Ann Miles of Woodburn and Sandy Lewis. He is an Associate Professor of Social Welfare at San Jose State College. They liked the Lafayette area and thought the scenery was beauti- ful. Saturday luncheon guest of Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Tracy were Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Kirkpatrick from Portland. Sunday guests were Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Darne]l of New- berg and Mrs. Darnell's sister who is visiting them from Port- ~and. Mrs. John Pitman entered the hospital Sunday afternoon and had the patches removed from her eye. Sunday afternoon visitors were Mr. and Mrs. George Ander- son. Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Showal- ter gave a family cookout Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Orville Hod- gins, Dale, Myra and Bruce, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Gibbon and Mrs. Florence Gibbon. A weekend guest of Mrs. Agnes Merrill and Merlin were her bro- ther, Mr. and Mrs. George Jansen from Ephra~a, Wash. Sunday they drove to Salem for dinner and shopping and then to Forest Grove to call on Mr. and Mrs. John Cowger and Nettle Jensen. Sunday, WEDDING RECEPTION FETES NEWLYWEDS SUNDAY The wedding reception and bridal shower for Sp4 and Mrs. Michael ~ompkins was held at the Unionvale Evangelical Church Gym on Sunday afternoon June 20 from 3-5 p.m. Mr. Tompkins is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Don Tompkins, and Mrs. Tompkins, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Ediger, whose marriage was held May 21 in Vancouver, Wash. Mrs. Richard Ediger of Salem, assisted by Mrs. Kenneth Hensley of Lake Oswego, served the wed- ding cake, Maria Withee served and Pattye Zentner of Dayton, poured coffee, and Val- erie and Dabble Tompkins and Mrs. Dwight Ediger had charge of the guest book and the gifts. Those who assisted with the serving were Peggy Henning, Mrs. R. A. Magee, Mrs. Carl Rutschman, Mrs. Harlan Noble, Mrs. Hubert Wilson, Mrs. F. L. Withee, and Janice Rutsehman.
