PAGE 2 -- THE DAYTON TRIBUNE -- DAYTON, OREGON -- THURSDAY, JUNE 24, 1982 School volunteers honored at J une tea On June 8 a Volunteer Tea was held at Dayton Grade School to honor the many adults who volunteered their time and talents during the school year. A total of 32 adults participated in volunteer projects during the year. All volunteers received a special certificate as an expression of appreciation for their involvement in the .~rogram. Volunteers who served more than 50 hours during the year received a corsage. Kathy Arreola, Sheila Henry, Nancy Laube and Rissa McCullough were honored in this area. A special group of people who volunteered in excess of 100 hours were inducted into the Dayton Grade School Century Club and were presented a potted plant. Recipients of these awards were Betty Fischer, Sue Lindell, Dorothy Mathison and Nancy Murphy. After the presentation of awards the teachers and volunteers had a good time of visiting and enjoying the good variety of refreshments. .... Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Duzan were Father's Day dinner guests at the home of their son, Mr. and Mrs. Ross Duzan of Portland. Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Paylor from Fruitland, Idaho, visited at the home of Mrs. and Mrs. Bud Callahan Thursday and Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Callahan drove to Coburg Wednesday to visit their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. John Perry. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Mathieson from Portland spent Friday and Saturday at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chester Hall. Saturday afternoon callers were Mr. and Mrs. Joel Start and two daughters from Philomath and Mr. and Mrs. Arvil Bail from Van- couver. Sunday callers were Mr. and Mrs. Bob Jette from Champoeg. Mrs. Hall is getting along quite well after her fall. Gordon Atkinson from Dayton and Carrie Young from McMinnville were Tuesday callers at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bud Callahan. FOSTER OIL CO. Scott Memorial Library at Pacific University. Miss Charlotte Filer represented Pacific University at an Historic Preservation Work Shop in Forest Grove Monday. A Chamber of Commerce luncheon was in- cluded in the program. Recent guests at the home of Mrs. Fabiola Bourassa were her cousin and family, Mr. and Mrs. George Martino of Victoria Island, British Columbia. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Reynolds and Lisa of Aniak, Alaska, have arrived to spend several weeks with her mother, Mrs. Fabiola Bourassa, while he attends summer school at Linfield College. Hopewell resident dies Nels W. Sipola, 74, of the Hopewell area, died Tuesday. Born in Douglas, Alaska, he lived in Salem from 1950 to 1964, when he moved to this area. He was employed by Northwest Natural Gas for more than 40 years, retiring in 1973. • Survivors include his wife, Agatha, and daughters, Karen Wood, Vancouver, Wash., and Nancy Luke, Amity. f Services wisll be at 2 pm Monday in the Hopewell Community Church. Interment will be in Hopewell Cemetery, under direction of Macy & Son mortuary, McMinnville. Contributions may be made to the church building fund. Webfoot Mr. and Mrs. Bert Boeve returned last Saturday from a month spent touring the states visiting relatives and friends. They started by way of Port Orford where they visited friends; then to visit Winifred's sister in Lomita, Calif. and another sister at Leisure World, Legunda Hills, Calif. While there they visited the Universal Studios. They visited two cousins of Bert's in Wichita and in Kansas City, Kansas. They enjoyed a tour of the Truman Library, saw the Republican Convention Hall and the Hyatt Regency Hotel where they saw repairs being made after the "skybridge" disaster a year ago. They visited more cousins in Phillipsburg and Prairie View, Kansas, then on to Holyok~, Colorado where they attended Bert's 50th Class reunion. Both had grown up in Holyoke and nearby Haxton where they visited many more friends and relatives. Berthoud, Colorado is the home of Oliver Boeve, Bert's brother and after a visit there it was on to see Winifred's cousin in Loveland, Colorado; then her aunt and uncle and cousins in Cheyenne, Wyoming. The first part of their trip was hot and dry but through,Oklahoma and to Kansas City it rained so much the farmers couldn't get their crops in and they were unable to reach so ~" of the relatives because of high water. They returned by way of Spokane where they visited their st~ Kenneth and family and then on home on the hottert day we have had. A real WARM welcome back. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Ford of Aberdeen, Wash., spent Wednesday night of last night here with h~ mother, Mrs. Dorothy Ford. Mr. and Mrs. Bryce Ostrander and their grlndson, Mike Leroy and Mrs. Dorothy Ford were among the thousands attending the Witness convention in Corval- lis Thursday through Sunday of last week. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Boeve's family, Richard of Portland, Ronald and family of Mulino and Kenneth and family of Spokane were home for Father's I)ay, which was also Mrs. Boeve's birthday as well as a granddaughter from Mulino. Bones family reunion attended by large groU-p Mr. and Mrs. Francis Kilgore attended the Bones family reunion at Wortman's park in McMinnville Sunday, June 13. There was a nice crowd even though the weather wasn't as nice as hoped. A good time was had by all and aif anyone didn't get all they wanted to eat, it was their own fault. This is a yearly picnic and then in August we have a Bones campout at the coast by Drift Creek. After the reunion Mr. and Mrs. Horace Edwards of Portland stopped by the Kilgore home and got large pictures of Mrs. Kilgore's grandmother and grandfath- er, the Ammon Bones, of which Horace is going to make pictures for the rest of the family from them.
