Jill Friesen, bride-elect of Lloyd
Galer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fenton
Galer was honored with a bridal
shower at the home of Mrs. Nels
Sipola on Monday morning July
10. Mrs. Richard Luke and Mrs.
Fenton Galer were Hostesses.
Those who attended were Mrs.
Lloyd Galer of Dayton, Diana But-
ler of Salem, Mrs. Evelyn Lintrick
of Dayton, Mrs. Jack Terrill of
Dayton, Kathy Galer of Sheridan,
Mrs. William Callander of Amity
and Mrs. Walter Irwin of Hope-
well. The wedding of Miss Friesen
and Mr. Galer will be an event of
Saturday afternoon, July 29 at 2
PM at the Hopewell Community
Church.
Mr. and Mrs. N. O. Pearse called
on Mr. and Mrs, Clarence Legg of
Salem on Monday morning, July
17. The Leggs were former owners
of the Hopewell Store. Mr. Legg is
recovering from surgery in June.
Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Schuck and
family are spending several weeks
in the home of her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Reuben Reist, while they are
visiting relatives in Nebraska, Kan-
sas and Pennsylvania.
Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Gingerich
and Chad of Harrisonburg, Virginia
are spending the summer in Hope-
well, and helping his parents with
the harvest, while Mr. and Mrs.
Allen Shirk and family are visiting
their parents and other relatives in
Pennsylvania for the summer.
Mrs. (Charles) Keightley attend-
ed the wedding of her grand-
daughter Dianne Bahnsen at Col-
lege Place, Wash. July 14th. She
went up with her daughter Vir-
ginia.

Hopewell and
Unionvale
Church News
Wednesday evening July 19 the
two Youth Fellowship groups met
at the Unionvale Church at 6:30
PM, for devotionals annd the Sen-
ior group went roller skating and
the Junior group to Lafayette Locks
Park. Last week there were 17 in
the Junior group and 25 in the
Senior group who attended the
Youth Fellowship meetings.
Thursday evening, Bible Study
at the Hopewell Church.
Friday and Saturday, Carl Rut-
schman will lead a group from the
Unionvale and Hopewell Churches
for a hike up Mt. Hood. They will
spend Friday night at mr. Rut-
schman's cabin at Rhodendron,
annd then hike to the top on
Saturday.
Next Tuesday, July 25, the An-
nual Conference of the Evangelical
Church of North America will con-
vene at Jennings Lodge Assembly
Ground until Thursday evening,
July 27. The Wednesday and Thur-
sday evening services are open to
the public and all are invited to
attend. Rev. Charles Ludwig, Mrs.
John Hackworth, as delegate from
Unionvale Church and Earl Comp-
ton as delegate from the Hopewell
Church will attend full time.
FAIRVIEW
Merle and Alice Campbell have
been visiting here over weekend
and attending the Oregon Camp
Meeting at Gladstone. They are at
present in the process of building a
new house at Redding Calif.
John and William Kotka attend-
ed a family gathering on Saturday,
July 15, at the home of their niece
and family, Mr. and Mrs. Donald

land, Mr. and Mrs. Dykes Abram
and daughter of Portland, Mr. and
Mrs. Eric Kotka of Portland and
Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Kotka of

Mrs. Mildred Osborne and son
Jame of Breckton, Massachusetts
are houseguests of Mr. and Mrs.
Manuel Morris for a month. Mrs.
Osborne is Mrs. Morris' daughter.
Mrs. Charlotte Johnson of River-
side, California visited Mr. and
Mrs. Ernie Bhone and family from
Wednesday till Sunday, July 16,
returning home by air Sunday
afternoon. The Bhone family took
her to the Portland airport and
enjoyed seeing the planes come
and go.
Well-Child Clinic
To Be Held Here
The Yamhill County Health Cen-
ter is sponsoring a Well Child/
Baby Weigh-in Clinic at the Edu-
cation Unit of the Baptist Church in
Dayton on July 20th from 9:00 a.m.
to 11:30 a.m.
Services offered will be primarily
nursing evaluation of growth and
development of the children, health
and nutrition counseling with par-
ents, and immunizations. Babies
through 2 will be weighted and
measured; all pre-school children
may receive immunizations. Re-
ferrals will be made to family
physicians when needed, but the
main focus will be providing infor-
mation to parents to help maintain
the health of their children.

Ramona Circle
Meets At Home
Of Mrs. Remme.
Ramona Circle W.S.W.S. of the
Pioneer Evangelical Church met at
the home of Mrs. Guy Remme last
Friday afternoon. A delicious des-
sert was served before the meeting
started.
Evelyn Lenderink, president
opened the meeting with prayer.
There were nine members and two
guests. The guests were Ardith
Magee and Flora Duzan.
Dorothy Myers gave the devo-
tions and told about a 5A month
trip she and her husband were
planning.
The August Meeting will be a
joint meeting with the Esther Rice
Circle at the church.
