historic stained glass windows. The church is located at
Fourth and Church Streets, in Dayton.
Each tour will begin on the hour, beginning at 10 am
and continuing until 2 pm. Refreshments will be served

Hunter Safety Class held
By Jim ConneUy
A Hunter Safety Class, sponsored by the Oregon
Department of Fish and Wildlife, with volunteer teachers
Jim Connelly and Bruce Waltz, saw local students finish-
ing the class with passing marks in all required categories.
The class is a minimum of 12 hours in length and teaches
the young students about
* hunter responsibility
* conservation and wildlife management
* firearms safety -- live fire on a range
* wildlife identification
* hunting skills
* game care
* survival and first aid
* water safety
This class is required of all young Oregon hunt-
ers under the age of 18 and for adults going out of state to
hunt big game, if that state requires a current hunter edu-
cation card.
Congratulations to Joey Flores, Joe Hernandez,
Kyle Valdez, John Halderman, Dylan Ashley, Josh With-
nell, Jakeb Tjaden, Morgan Laster, and Keith Ashley.
Dayton Dance Fest
By Caye Poe
Over 20 participants arrived for the first introduction
to Latin dancing at the fire hall on July 10th for a fun
evening.
Monica Gonzalez with her father's help set up a great
sound system. Monica was the MC and with the help of
her cousin, Carlos, showed the basics of Samba, Meren-
gue and other popular Latin dances. When the dancers
needed a break they all enjoyed the great refreshments.
Hopefully this will become a regular scheduled affair
in Dayton. Watch your water bill or the Dayton Tribune
for information.
Fletcher Road
repairs now underway
Construction will continue until October 1, 2004 on
Oregon 18: Lafayette Road U'xing (Fletcher Rd), an up-
date from the Oregon Department of Transportation re-
ports. Purpose of the project is to raise the Fletcher Road
Structure approximately two feet and reconstruct the
Fletcher Road approaches to the bridge.
On June 23 the Fletcher Road Bridge was closed and
motorists must expect to use the designated detour to La-
fayette Highway or use an alternate route.
Motorists can also expect night-time lane closures on
Highway 18, Monday through Friday, from 8 pm to 7
am.
