meeting held last June 24 in Dun-
dee. Elected were: Chairman, Cur-
tis Jasper of Willamina; vice-chair-
man, Beryl Stephens-Cadton; sec-
retary Camille Thompson, Mc-
Minnville and treasurer, Mike
Hamilton of McMinnville.
The Central Committee will send
four delegates to the Oregon Re-
publican Convention being held on
August l, 2 and 3rd in Lincoln City.
The delegates are Curtis Jasper of
Witlamina, Beryl Stephens of Carl-
ton, Corolie Hoefler of Sheridan
and Marvin Barnett, Newberg. Al-
ternates are June Finch, Dundee
and W. Meier, Newberg.
The next meeting of the Yamhill
County Republican Central Com-
mittee will be held Tuesday, 'Aug.
26 in Room 32 of the Yamhill
County Courthouse. Central Com-
mittee meetings are always open to
the public.
Hopewell
July 19th was the closing day of
Oregon's 103rd annual camp meet-
ing for Oregon Seventh-Day Ad-
ventist churches held at Gladstone,
Oregon, the permanent camp-
ground for the past 50 years.
At prayer meeting July 22, Ted
Jennings played a tape recording of
Camp meeting night meeting.
Pastor Dalles Dull and wife went
on a trip to College Place to help
their son move Tuesday, July 22.
A moving sale was held July 20
in yard at the Dalles Bartell home
now in Hopewetl.
The Waldo Makers. the Ted YCDCC Names
Jennings. Fred Drakes family
stayed there the entire eight days.
Others stayed part time or com-
muted to and from home.
The Dalles Bartell family of

To Ways and
Means Group
Senate President Jason Boe has
named Sen. Tony Meeker of Amity
to the Ways and Means Committee
for the special session beginning
Aug. 4.
Boe said it is the Ways and
Means Committee which will de-
cide how to cut some $200 million
from current state budgets to meet
a projected deficit.
Meeker, in Salem to attend com-
mittee hearings, said he believes

the special session can do the job in
four days, and that no worthwhile
state programs need to be de-
stroyed in the process.
"Despite the tight Atiyeh bud-
get, the.re is still plenty of admin-
istrative blubber we can cut and
that's where we must take the
meat-axe approach," Meeker said.
He said he is opposed to reduc-
ing tax relief programs or cutting
state aid to schools to help meet the
deficit.
Meeker also said he is opposed
to any new taxes or increases in
existing taxes.
"The special session should limit
itself to a program to cut, squeeze
and trim the state's administrative
arm," Meeker said. "Many citi-
zens are suffering economic cala-
mity and collapse, and it is ap-

propriate for state government to
join in the belt-tighterdg effort."
Meeker said the budget cuts can
be made "while at the same time
keeping our commitment to help
the most innocent and least for-
tunate in our midst."

Central Committee elected on a
unanimous slate its officers for the
next two years at the July biennial
reorganization meeting. Chairman
is Barbara Jelinek; vice-chairman,
Dave Bishop; recording secretary,
Shirley Kimball; corresponding
secretary, Martha Ezell; treasurer,
Kim Worrell; Delegate-at-large to

laws and other business was con-
ducted.
YCDCC members Harold and
Marge Lewis, McMinnviUe, are
hosting at their home a cheese and
home made wine tasting party,
Aug. 1, 8 pm to raise money to
offset delegate expenses at the
Democratic convention.
Antonia Crater, Newberg and
Ted Lopuszynski, McMinnville,
elected Yamhill County delegates,
leave Aug. 9 for the week long
convention in New York. A $5
donation is asked at the party.
All Democrats and precinct per-
sons are invited to attend and to
bring friends. The public is invited.
A white'elephant auction will be
held during the evening.
