James Rateau was a patient at the University of Oregon Medical School Hospital for several days this past week, returning home on Friday. Mrs. Monica Brinner of Portland was a guest of her sister, Mr.-and Mrs. Elton Ingrain for several days this week. Mr. and Mrs. Pete Hiebert of Salem were Friday afternoon guests of Mrs. Margaret Janzen. Mrs. Lou Ann Caudel and family are preparing to move to the Ivan Gubser house near Pleasantdale Sept. 1 and the children will attend Dayton School. Donald Micklejohn and family of Spokane, Wn., were guests of the Clair Stephens family. Don is a brother of Faye. Two weeks earlier Clifford Micklejohn of Colorado was a guest at the Stephens home. The mother Cora Micklejohn lives there with Clair and Faye. The Donald Sargeants, Jim Sar- geants, and Harry Christiansons spent the weekend of Aug. 5th at a lake near Cottage Grove. Bible Study and prayer service Thursday evening at 7:30 pro. All invited. Hopewell SDA Church News Pastor Robert Letcher preached his farewell sermon, "Maranatha" at the Aug. 12 service. His wife and daughter Sharon accompanied him. Sharon sang" two special numbers. Guest organist was Gladys Robert- son of Salem. Her husband Rex visited Hopewell also and "stayed for the Farewell Fellowship Potluck dinner which followed in the Junior room. Sabbath School program high- lights were: Investment material by Stanley Keightley, Mission Em- phasis, Sharon Esperson. Monday, Aug. 21 will be school registration. School Board meeting Aug. 14. School opening day, Aug. 28. Prayer meetings are enjoying the taped sermons of Camp Meeting early morning meetings by Lloyd Wyman. Waldo Maker taped them.
