Ricky Kiingler fell at school last week, breaking both wrists, injuring his nose and also his head. Lafayette Extension Unit will be held this Thursday at Peggy Wise's residence with pot lurk at noon. Dayton Doings Mr. and Mrs. Bud Callahan were Monday afternoon callers at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Paylors at Cornelius. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Budke spent the weekend visiting in Seattle. They visited a cousin, Robert Budke, and celebrated th birthday of an uncle, Louis Budke, and other relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Duzan ac- companied Mr. and .Mrs. Lowell Parrish from McMinnville to Prineville Friday to attend the funeral of Mrs. Verda Duzan. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hanser from ,Portland were Tuesday guests at the home of her sister, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Duzan. Mrs. Lena Filer and daughter Charlotte drove to the Portland airport Friday evening to meet their daughter and sister, Mrs. Bernard Lippens from Chamber- lain, So. Dakota. Saturday they ,shopped in Salem and Sunday they visited their sister and aunt, Mrs. Barbara Dill, at West Hills Convalescen~ home in Portland. They also visited her daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Mason in Portland. Vi Kaufman and brother, Ar- thur Sholts, from Portland visit- ed the Bud Callahans Friday aft- ernoon. Wheatland Virginia Magness accompanied her brother, Mr. and Mrs. John Magness of Washington, D.C to Dufur to visit another sister, Mrs. Adeline Underhill for the week. end. Harold Hochstetler, Mennonite Conference overseer, was guest speaker at the Western Mennon- ite Church Sunday, and officiated at the installation of the new pas- tor, Richard Wenger. A potluck Mr. and Mrs. Robert MacMinn of West Covina, Calif were ov- ernight guests of her uncle, Mr. and Mrs. N. O. Pearse Sunday, and left for their home early Monday morning. They had vis- ited Mrs. MacMinn's sister, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Dove and fam- ily of Richland, Wash and will attend a convention of Barber Shop Singers in Sacramento, Calif on their way south. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Pearse of West Linn arrived home Satur- day evening from a three week trip to London and Gloucester, England. They traveled by air from Vancouver, B.C over the North Pole, and enjoyed visiting the Parliament Buildings, West- minster Abbey, Big Ben, Hamp- ton Court Palace, and museums as well as the Shakespears coun- try around Gloucester. Mrs. Minnie Davidson and Mrs. N. O. Pearse called on Mrs. Re- becca McKinley and Mrs. Lula Smith on Wednesday afternoon. .Mrs. Smith had just returned from a two week's stay in the McMinnville Hospital for surgery and is improving steadily. Mrs. Virginia Carson of Sweet Home was with her mother and sister last week, and Mrs. Georgia Mull of Salem is with them this week. Mr. and Mrs. James Miles of Salem and Mr. and Mrs. Glen Brenneman of Willamina were Sunday guests, with Virginia Car- son and Georgia Mull, to cele- brate the birthdays of Mrs. Mc- KiRley, rMrs. Miles and Mrs. Bren- neman. Mr. and Mrs. N. O. Pearse called on Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Hodgson on Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Estella Campbell has been a guest of her daughCer, Mr. and Mrs. Albert, Terrill, and on Mon- day, Mrs. Terrill took her to Dal- las to spend a week with Mrs. Patsy Smith. The Hopewell Home Extension Unit will hold the first meeting of the fall season on Tuesday, Oc- tober 21 at 10:30 am at the home of Mrs. N. O. Pearse. Mrs. Lloyd Roe and Mrs. Don Miller are the project leaders for the lesson on "Car Maintenance". Potluck din. ner will be served at noon. All women of the neighborhood are urged to attend. Monday evening, the Amity School Board came out to the Hopewell School, to hold an in- formational meeting, concerning the bond issue that is to be voted on soon, for new buildings and renovating present ones at the Amity Grade and High School. Denise Hersha was injured at her work at the Stayton Canning Company on Wednesday of last week, with severe injuries to her arm, and was in the Salem Hos- pital from Wednesday to Satur- ,day, and is steadily improving but still confined to bed. irvl Mr. and Mrs. Frank Loewen of Cedarbrook, B.C. and Mr. and Mrs. Everett Campbell of Salem were Monday guests of Mr. and Mrs~ Nels Sipola.
