NOTICE OF MEASURE
ELECTION
Notice is hereby given that on
Tuesday, Nov. 4, 1980 an election
will be held in Dayton School
District No. 8, Yamhill County,
Oregon. The polls will be open
from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m, The
following question will be sub-
mitted to the qualified voters
thereof:
TAX BASE ELECTION
Shall a new tax base of $1,100,-
000.00 be established for Dayton
School District No. 8 to become
effective for the 1981-82 fiscal
year?
The purpose of this measure is to
establish a new tax base as set
forth in Arhcle XI, Section 11, of
the Oregon Constitution and which
will provide revenue to meet the
operational and maintenance costs
of the district.

EXPLANATION OF THE BALLOT
MEASURE
The present tax base of $590,-
229.30 is insufficient to provide the
necessary revenue to finance a
quality educational program ade-
quate to meet the needs of the
children of this district. New state
laws require that a tax base pro-
posal be submitted to the voters in
1980 if the tax base for 1979 was
inadequate and a special election
was held. Passage of this measure
will result in the state paying up to
30% of the homeowners tax on the
total budget levy. If the proposed
new tax base of $1,100,000.00 is
approved, a six percent increase is
allowed each year thereafter.

SDA Church
Elder Abawag, retired minister,
tiving in Portland was speaker at
church hour Oct. 4. His wife
accompanied him to Hopewell.
Special music was given by Joe
Pearles. Many visitors were pres-
ent. Offering was for church bud-
get. Asst. Sabbath School Supt.
George Byrnes had charge of the
program beginning a new quarter
in Sabbath School. Special music
was given by the Pearles. Progress
report, Evelyn Byrnes, Mission
story, Harry Christianson.
Coming Oct. 11 will be the Voice
of Prophecy annual offering. Also
Communion Service by pastor John
Yuros . There will be a fellowship
potluck dinner after the services.
The Pathfinders met Sunday,
Oct. 5th at 6:30 pm. Prayer meet-
ing Tuesday, 7:30 pro, Wednesday
10-3 m, Dorcas meeting. Keep in
mind the coming "'Family Night"
Oct. 18 at 7:30 pm at our school
gym on 1349 Elm, McMinnville.
Guest artist Patti Ediger will be
giving most of the program.
Associated M.V. meeting Oct. 4
at 5:30 was given by the "Glad
Tidings" church group from Tual-
atin South Park church. It was a
beautiful musical program. Paul
Straight of Newberg gave a trave-
logue on Pitcairn Island.
A group of neighbors had a
housewarming party on Linda and
Roger Shilhanek Sept. 24. Refresh-
ments were served and visiting was
enioyed.

Dayton Area Dairies Qualify For
This Year's Dairy Of Honor Prog'ran
Fourteen Yamhil[ County dairies
have qualified for the 1980 Dairy of
Honor program after the farms
.were inspected and evaluated by
Mike Gamroth, county extension
service, and Don Anderson, repre-
senting the Oregon Dairymen's
Assn.
Six were among the only 54
dairies in the entire state to receive
a superior rating, the highest
award. These were D. H. Boersma
and R & S Farm, McMinnville;
Cruickshank Dairy Farm, Art De-
Jager and Oscar Kempema, Day-
ton; and Pete DeHaan, Salem.
Tom Roth, Jr., Dayton, won the
Dairy of Honor award for the first

program, sponsored jointly by the
Oregon State Extension .,Service,
