w New post combines Dayton, Lafayette The Veterans of Foreign Wars instituted a new Post for the Lafayette-Dayton area on August 22, at 8 pm in Dayton. The LaDay Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10626 was instituted by State Commander, David Klym, and other department officers with 30 charter members. Ted Wirfs was elected and installed as the Charter Commander. The LaDay VFW Post 10626 met at 8 pm on Oct. 15 at the Dayton Fire Hall. This was on the regularly scheduled meeting date which is the third Thursday of the month at the regular meeting place. The next meeting date will be Nov. 19, 1981. Anyone interested in Veterans of Foreign Wars may contact Commander Wirfs at 864-3588. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Budke and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Cart from McMinnville have returned home after spending three weeks in Europe. They visited several countries while there. Saturday dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bud Callahan were Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Warren and their son, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Warren and two sons from Forest Grove. Mr. and Mrs. Don Goodrich and two daughters from Albany were Sunday dinner guests at the home of her mother, Mrs. Henrietta Foster. Mr. and Mrs. Chester Hall spent Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Arvil Bail in Vancouver, Wash. They also saw two grandchildren and four great grand- children. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Wright were Sunday guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Roger Veach in Portland. Mrs. Lena Filer and Charlotte spent four days last week in the Seaside-Astoria area. They also drove along both sides of the Columbia River and visited Fort Clatsop, Fort Stevens, Astor Column and Trojan atomic energy plant. They went over by way of the Tillamook forest and returned on the Sunset highway. The foliage both ways was beautiful with maples, vine maples, dog wood, alder and birch showing many fall colors. The weather was beautiful every day. Charlotte returned to work at Pacific University on Monday. Sunday dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bud Callahan were his sister, Mrs. Ann Matthews from Sheridan and Douglas Miller from Carson City, Nev. Mrs. Blanche Anderson returned home last Thursday after spending six weeks in Missouri and Wisconsin. In Missouri she visited a brother, Mr. and Mrs. M. E. Macklin. She also visited friends and relatives in Brookfield, and Chele, Missouri, and a niece in Wisconsin. She reports lovely weather. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Galer were Monday guests at the home of his mother, Mrs. Catharine Galer. Mr. and Mrs. Fenton Galer and son Michael from Hopewell, Mrs. Catharine Galer and Kenneth Galer, Miss Kathy Galer, were Sunday dinner guests at the home of Miss Leona Slaybaugh in Sheridan. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Duzan drove to the home of their son, Mr. and Mrs. Ross Duzan in Portland Monday. From there Ross took them to see Mrs. Duzan's sister, Mrs. Irene Hauser, who has bee in the .hospital but is now at home in Milwaukie. Then they all went to see Mr. and Mrs. Jim Penland and Mrs. Freda Sawyer. Monday was Flora Duzan's birthday so to finish up the day their son took them and Mrs. Hauser out to dinner. The Duzans returned home in the evening. Mr. and Mrs. Penland and Freda Sawyer live at Rose Villa and are former residents of Dayton.
