Pastor's Corner THURSDAY, OCTOBER 29, 1981 THE DAYTON TRIBUNE -- DAYTON, flREGON -- PAGE 3 Lafayette man fi!es Hopewell. . Geroge and Evelyn Byrnes have returned from a for county posttton Ontario.m°nths vacation in Canada visiting his relatives in Dear Pastor Skip, What can I do to make my relationship with Jesus Christ stronger? Let me begin by saying you have already taken the most important step. That is, you have a desire to have a strong relationship. Just because a person is a Christian it does not necessarily mean that they will grow spiritually and be developing their relationship j~!~awith Christ. If we do not desire to have a constant day ::~" by ¢[aywalk with Christ then your relationship can grwo stagnant. In building a strong relationship with Christ here is an important point to remember. We should always be totally dependent on God for everything. Paul said it was in his weakness that he was strongest because then He had to rely totally on the power of Jesus Christ. It is only as we follow Paul's pattern and let Christ live through us that we become strong and we can please God. Some simple helps in doing this are reading your Bible, praying, and fellowship with other Christians. As we read the Bible we learn more and more about who God is, what He wants for our lives, and, our need to depend on Him. Prayer is simply talking to God. Yet it is the most powerful tool of the Christian. It puts us in direct communication with God. Thus once we learn from the Bible what God desires for us, we can talk to Him and ask His guidance. Finally, by fellowship with other Christians we can gain love, encouragement, and insights from their lives as they share how God has been blessing them. These three simple steps will help us to be more dependent on God and thus our relation- ship with Jesus will be strengthened.
