Homecoming Queen Candi,datles Named at Dana "
FIVE CO-EDS at Dana College in B'air have
been chosen as finalists for the title of Queen
of the 1970 Homecoming weekend, November
6 8. The Queen and her Court will be intro-
duced during the tra~it;onal C'orona'i0n Cere-
mony scheduied for Friday evening, Nov. 6, at
8 p.m. in Dana's Alumni Auditorium. Candi-
dates include (seated, left to right): Karen
Bansen, a senior Education major from Day-
ton; D~ane Schmidt, a senior English major
from Elkhorn, Nebraska; Lorene Akland, a
.~e~ior Physical Education major from Alces-
ter, South Dakota; (standing) Charlotte Thorn-
sen, a junior Elementary Education major
from Culber'son, Montana and Janice Schnei-
d~r, a senior Sociology major from Council
Bh-ff~, Iov/a. Mi s Bansen is the daughter of
M". and Mrs. Stan Bansen of rural Dayton.
She i a graduate of Dayton High School and a
tr~n:fer ctudent from Pacific Lutheran Uni-
ver=i':y. She is presen;ly completing her senior
year at Dana majoring in Education. She is a
r,~ember of Kappa Theta Phi sorority, the Wo-
m:n~ Dora tory Council, the Student Educa-
*~'o~ Ascoc!ation and serves as Secretary of the
~enior Cla~. She was named a Princess in the
1969 Homecoming Court and competed for the
title of "Miss Winterfest" during the 1969 win-
ter festival.
Mrs. Lulu Rockhill accompan-
ied Carl Wood to Toledo on Sun-
day to spend the day with ,Mr.
and Mrs. Arnet White and family.
Mrs. Carl Wood returned wiVh
them after being a weekend guest
of her sister.
Diana Scoggan, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Victor Scoggan,
bride-elect of Randall Shipman,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Ship-
man of Everett, Wash was hon-
ored with a bridal shower by the
Lutheran Church Women's 'So-
ciety of McMinnville at the home
of Mrs. Lloyd Ewing of Dayton,
Monday evening. The wedding is
planned for Saturday afternoon,
November 7 at 3 p.m. in the Trin-
ity Lutheran Church in M6Minn-
ville.
50th WEDDING ANNIVERSARY
RECEPTION TO BE HELD
Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Coberly
of Salem will be honored with a
50th wedding anniversary recep-
+ tion atthe home of their daugh-
ter, Mr. and Mrs. Harlan Noble
on Sunday afternoon, Nov. 22
from 2-5 p.m. Their daughters,
Mrs. Marion Dixon of Amity and
Mrs. William Lashbau,gh of Port-
land and granddaughters will as-
sist.
Mr. and Mrs. Coberly were
married Nov. 24, 2920 at Hast-
ings, Nebraska, and had lived in
the Wheatland area for many
years, before moving to Salem.
All friends of the honored cou-
ple are invited to attend.
GUESTS ATTEND MEETING
OF KILL KARE KLUB
The Dayton Kill Kare Klub
met at the home of Mrs. Beulah
McGfll in McMinnville for their
November meeting.
There were six members pres-
ent and four guests to enjoy a
delicious pot luck dinner at noon.
The guests were Mrs. Sena Nutt-
brock from Milwaukie, Mrs. Don-
na Witherford, Mr~ Marjorie
Sims and Mrs. Amelia Mock from
McMinnville.
Mrs. ~erryman, president, con-
ducted the business meeting. A
letter from Mrs. Bertie Thrasher
was read and a card sent to her.
The afternoon was spent visit-
ing and quilting.
The next meeting will be at
the home of Mrs. Garrett with a
gift exChan,ge.
House guests of Mr. and Mrs.
Charley Carr this past week were
her brother, Mr. and Mrs. Fred
Hessler of San Carlos, Calif.
Mrs. Fern Vaughan is spending
a week with her son Jim Vaugh-
an and family in Eina, Wash.
(Mrs. Dorothy Ford returned
Sunday from a visit with friends,
Mr. and Mrs. Leo Sensi,baugh
in Roseburg. Mrs. Ford had ac-
companied Mrs. Marie Benjamin
and son, Mr. and Mrs. John Ben-
jamin of Amity on a short trip.
