Kill Kare Klub Members Make Gift
Mrs. Lena Filer was hostess for
the Kill Kare Klub Thursday, Nov.
16. They had their usual bountiful
pot luck dinner at noon. The table
and rooms were decorated in the
Thanksgiving theme. Mrs. Ruth
Reeder gave grace in the sign lan-
guage.
There were 11 to enjoy the
dinner, nine members and two
guests. The guests were Mrs.
Filer's daughters, Mrs. Bernard
Lippens from Chamberlain, So.
Oak., and Charlotte Filer who was
still on vacation from Pacific Uni-
versity but went back to work
Friday.
Mrs. Alvina Reu, president, had
charge of the business meeting.
The quilt they finished at the last
meeting is for sale at Putts Market.
Mrs. Dee Hall read the minutes
of the last meeting and gave" the
treasurer's report.
Members that are making lap
robes for the rest homes in Mc-
Minnville are to turn them in at the
December meeting. The club de-
cided not to exchange gifts this
year but each member is to give
$1.00 to be put in the treasury for
further use.
Mrs. Ruth Reeder received the
door prize. The members all en-
joyed looking at Mrs. Flier's beau-
tiful quilts.
The next meeting will be at the
home of Mrs. Hilma Garrett and
the local scene
Mrs. Bernard Lippens returned
Saturday to her home in Chamber-
lain, So. Dakota, after visiting two
weeks at the home of her mother
and sister, Mrs. Lena Filer and
Charlotte. The Fliers took her to
the Portland airport Saturday
morning.
Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Galer Jr. and
son Michael were Sunday dinner
guests at the home of his grand-
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Galer.
A visitor at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Chester Hall was an old friend
of many years, Earl Strauser, from
Riverside, Calif. From here he
went to see a granddaughter, then
will be back to visit more at the Hall
home.
Miss Charlotte Filer attended a
dinner party Friday evening at the
home of Mrs. Elam Anderson in
McMinnville. The party was in
honor of Miss Edythe Gunderman
of Florida, a former McMinnville
resident.
Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Galer
from Eugene were recent callers at
the home of his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Lloyd Galer.
Lap Robes
will be the second Thursday in
December instead of the third so as
not to conflict with Christmas.

Regional Library Service Offers
Many Free Items Besides Books
Library services have been ex-
panded over the last few years and
the Chemeketa Cooperative Re-
gional Library Service now offers
records, magazines, maps, movies,
sheet music, art, photographs for
loan, and over 300,000 books, all
free of special charges.
The CCRLS is a cooperative
system among 17 public libraries in
Marion and Polk Counties, most of
Yamhill County, including Dayton
and Lafayette, and a small portion
of northern Linn County, the Che-
meketa Community Library, and
the Oregon State Library.
The purpose of the CCRLS is to
provide library service for those
district residents who would other-
wise not have access to public
library service, and to provide
improved public library service for
those district resident who do.
Among the CCRLS services of-
fered free of charge are:
Universal Borrowing Privileges
Everyone in the district may ob-
tain a public library card free of
charge. You may use your public
library card at any of the 17 public
libraries in the district, the Cbe-
meketa Community College Library
and the CCRLS Bookmobile. This
means you may draw on the area's
entire library resources of books,
records, films, magazines, and
other items, as well as from a col-
lection of over 300,000 books.
Books and materials may be re-
quested from other libraries
through your nearest public li-
brary. Requested materials are de-
livered by courier to your nearest
public library. If you like, you may
go to any of the libraries yourself
and use your library card to check
out books and materials.
Bookmobile
A "library on wheels" which
travels to 30 locations throughout
the CCRLS district, including La-
fayette. There are over 2000 titles
to choose from and shelves are fre-
quently restocked so that patrons
always have a "fresh stock" to
choose from. Books not available
on the Bookmobile will be sought
upon request.
Your public library card can be
used on the Bookmobile. If you
don't have one, applications for
them are available on the Book-
mobile.
Books.by.Mall
This is a mail order library
service for residents of rural areas
and cities without tax-supported
libraries. Two or three times a
year, catalogs listing about 300
books each are mailed to the homes
of those who qualify. Books cover
wide variety of subjects to suit all
interests.
Information Service
If you ever have a question and
are having trouble finding an ans-
wer, the reference people at your
public library will help you find the
answer. Questions may be on any
subject: Jogging, Sex, Cooking,
Travel. Questions that can't be
answered at your local library will
be forwarded to Salem, where the
regional libraries full time refer-
ence librarian will research it for
you. Answers are sent by courier to
your nearest library.
Film Series
During the summer months, the
Chemeketa Cooperative Regional
Library Service provides ten full
length feature films. Titles such as
Jungle Book, Music Mn and
Charlle Brown are generally chil-
dren's films, but are enjoyed by
people of all ages. Everyone is
invited to watch and enjoy the films
which are shown at more than ten
public libraries and several other
locations throughout the summer.
Courier Service
The CCRLS operates a Courier so
that the books and materials you
request are delivered promptly for
you to your nearest public library.
With the Courier, you may return
books and materials from any of the
public libraries, the Oregon State
Library, Chemeketa Community
College, and the CCRLS Bookmo-
bile to your nearest public library.
'Mark Twain' On
Stage At Gallery
Mark Twain will be visiting
McMinnville on Tuesday, Dec. 5.
In a performance based on the
work of the humorist and author,
Bil Moeller will appear at the
McMinnville Gallery Theater, 210
Ford St., at 8 pro.
The event is one of a series of
"Evenings with Mark Twain"
sponsored by the Associated Stu-
dents of Chemeketa Community
College in five communities in the
college district.
During the show, Moeller will
attempt to become Mark Twain --
complete with a white suit, makeup
and a wig -- for his audience.
Moeller's presentations include
whimsical recollections of the
youthful antics of the famous au-
thor known as Mark Twain, whose
real name was Samuel Clemens.
The show ranges to hilarious dis-
cu.sions on the benefits of plea-
surable pastimes and devastating
blasts at hypocrisy.
A former radio broadcaster in
western Washington, Moeller now
earns his living by personifying
Mark Twain. He has appeared
throughout the Northwest at thea-
ters as well as at colleges and
universities.
Tickets for the McMinnville per-
formance are available in advance
at the McMinnville Chemeketa
Center, 711 E. 1Sth St. They will
also be available at the door.
Tickets are $I for adults, and $.50
for children under 12.
