Our President Neva Richards,

an interesting report on that

After the business of the meet-

turned over to Hazel Trefren,
who had the lesson for the day.
Her lesson was on "Thanksgiving
Through the Years."
Thanksgiving was held in the
earliest days of the Bible. In those
days it was part of their com-
mitment to God to offer the best
of. their harvest to'him in the
church This was followed by a
week of feasting and en~ling with
another day of worship.
Our Thanksgiving of today
grew out of the desire of the Pil-
grims to thank God for their first
successful, harvest. Thanksgiving
was observed after that at d~f-
ferent dates until President ~Lin-
coin proclaimed the ~ Thurs-
day in November be set aside for
Thanksgiving in 1863.
Each member was asked to re-
late something a. little unusua}
for which she was thankful. Each
member was also to write down
something as a .goal .or "El Calyi-
tan" to aspire to in the coming
year. it was a very enjoyable
~esson.
Our next meeting will be at
the home of Muriel Sweeney Dec.

son.
