Giddings in the Bethel Baptist
Church in McMinnville. After she
left the podium the bride paused
and .gave her mother and the mo-
ther of the groom, each a rose
from her bouquet.
Friday evening Mrs. Agnes
Merrill and Merlin visited from
San Francisco, Calif by Glen
Barr and his mother, Mrs. Frank
Bart. Monday Mrs. Chuck Pol-
lard called on Mrs. Merrill.
:Monday evening Mr. and Mrs.
S. A. Harris gave a Tupperware
party with 13 guests. Mr. and
Mrs. Arthur Payne of Gastx)n and
their daughters from Vancouver,
Can,ada, ~(Ethel and Norma), Mrs.
Howard Raymond, Mrs. Violet
Carothers and Mrs. Alma Stein
flug of Newbery, Mrs. A. B. Cof-
fey, Mr. and Mrs. Perle Payne
who have just returned from a
trip to California and the demon-
strator.
Lafayette Extension Unit met
at the 'home of Edna Rector.
Guests were Diana Schmauder,
Docia Moore and Shawn Rose-
berry, 8 weeks old. After the les-
son and luncheon, Peggy Wtse
showed slides of her trip. The
Christmas party will be a potluck
at the home of Edith Sohrweid.

Mr. and Mrs. Andrew ~Martiaez
returned home after spending
seven months in the high alti-
tudes of the Cascades, from 3500
to 5000 feet. Mr. Martinez was
fire watching and on duty 24
llours a day east of Roseburg.
They saw the spri.ng leaves come
out and saw them change color in
the Fall. The mountains were a
beautiful sight in ~:tl inches of
snow, with the thermometer
around 27 and the roads were
steep and hazardous.
They moved ,many times in the
seven months and one week
moved three times and enjoyed
seein.g the new country.

They collected~ many pretty
l agates and picked wild ~erries
and made jar They spent six
weeks in a primitive area in For-
est Service Timber and w~re
lucky to find spring water every
where. There were lots of wild
animals and birds. Deer are very
curious and want to see anything
strange and were always coming
around close and a young bear
wo~ld visit them quite often.
They saw lots of elk.
Mr. John Driskill and son, I/:en-
~neth Driskill visited them during
:hunting season. Mr. Martinez
brought home a two-point buck.
There were lots of hunters but

not many deer killed. They had
a busy but enjoyable summer and

Lafayette.

,Rrown of McMinnville and Edith
Gram picked up her sister, Helen
Martin in Portland and spent five
days in San Diego, Calif. They
saw her great nephew, Mr. and
Mrs. William A. Hul~t and son,
John Howard Hultt. They stayed
at the Pickwick hotel in San Di-
ego and visited the Zoo, Sea
World and Tijuana, Mexico. Sun-
day they left for Long Beach
where Rose Barks has a cousin
in the Navy who works for the
Admiral, Victor Williams ~ook
them to Disney}and and to Tustin
to visit Helen's cousin, Mrs. Hel-
en I-Ialthy and son and daughter,
Bud ~d Doreen. Mrs. Halthy Is
in the sanitation business and has
a fleet of 57 garbage trucks.
They spent four days hi Long
Beach and one day sightseeing.
In Los Angeles, Harriet Brov,n's
,granddaughter, Mr. and Mrs.
Woodruff Norwood, .formerly of
McMinnville, took them to Uni-
versal City, Beverly Hills, HoUy-
wood, The Marina and Farmers
