The Lafayette Planning Com-
mission wi)ll begin mapping the
city of Lafayette as to present
land use, it was decided at their
regular session last Thursday eve-
ni~g. Each member will be givert
a section of the city o designate
on a map what each lot in the
city is now being used for. This
is a preliminary step in prepar-
ing a comprehensive permanent
zoning ordinance.
Public informational hearings
on zoning will be held in future
months so that citizens of the
community may make their
wishes known and aid %he Com-
mission in formulating the direc-
tion the city will go in the years
to come.
President of the Commission,
which is appointed by the cou n-
cil, is Gene Scheutz. Assisting him
are Paul Stephenson, C. W. Mc-
Cracken, 'Glenn Petty, Mrs. Mar-
garet Mock, Mrs. Edwina Meit-
zen, Roy Lamb, Orval Coffey and
city councilman Jim Bosshardt.
In a special session Wednesday
evening the Planning Commis-
sion studied the request of Pacific
Ssles for a change in the city
junk ordinance. The matter was
referred tO the Commission by
~he Council. A committee was
appointed by Mr. Scheutze to ga-
ther further information on the
proposal and report back at a
special session scheduled for
Wednesday, Dec. 16.
