PAGE 2 -- THE DAYTON TRIBUNE, DAYTON, OREGON -- THURSDAY, DEC. 27, 1973 LAFAYETTE By PEGGY WISE -- 864-2389 Just 5 more days and 1973 will be just another statistic. It is a beginning for some, that is if you believe in New Years Resolutions. It is a time for looking back to see just what has happened in the last 365 days. There have been many changes in our town Business and Professional -- Paul Capron, our police chief, resigned to take a job in Eastern Oregon -- Don Petersen became our new chief; the long planned job of replacing our nmin water line has become a reality; we are 31st in line for a sewer grant and have high hopes and our fingers crossed; Bob Vaught re- signed as mayor and Edwina Meitzen became our first lady mayor; our zoning plan became a reality after 3 years of work and study; many new faces are noted and familiar faces are missing with the passing of old timers like Myrtle B]ough, Dean Rector and Buck Green, but life goes on --first we were short of rain, The Dane Clemens spent Christ- mas at the home of Royce Clem- ens and family in Seattle, Wash. The Baptist Church held their Christmas party Sunday evening. After the program and treats for the youngsters, the young peo- ple's group went out caroling and ended the evening at the home of Alien White for refreshments. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Hills and Blanche Stewart spent Christmas with the Howard Hills in Port- land. Guests at the Orville Hodgins home for Christmas Day were now we are "long" on rain; more Dale and Debbie Hodgins of Amr Directory lights -- less gas.
